REMOTE FIELD ELECTROMAGNETIC TESTING

The Remote Field Technique is generally used to evaluate the condition of small diameter ferromagnetic tubes such as those found in process heat exchangers, boilers, and feedwater heaters. The most common material examined being carbon steel. The Remote Field Technique (RFT) should not be confused with other electromagnetic techniques such as eddy current, used to examine nonferrous materials.

Ferror Scope 308 Instrument

  • Superb Pit detection Capabilities.
  • Dedicated Instrument designed specifically for remote field testing.
  • Dual Frequency Processing for High sensitivity near tube supports.
  • On board ZIP Drive for reliable data back-upo.
  • High - Quality, low noise instrumentation for wide variety applications.
  • Backed by Russell's high - rated Remote Field Training and technical support.

Application

  • For inside diameter 0.250 inch (6.35mm) and above.
  • For Magnetic Materials.
  • Common usage includes boilers, heat exchangers, feed water heaters, plant pipe and condensers.
  • Wall thickness up to0.72 inch (19.05mm).
  • Industries of application include power, oil and gas, pulp and paper and petro- chemicals.
  • Small and large bore applications.
  • Complies with ASTM standard practice for RFET (Remote Field Testing).
  • Internal or External probes.

Basic Specs

  • Operating Frequency 10 Hz to 20 kHz.
  • 16 Channel Capability.
  • Sample rate up to 1000 samples per second.
  • Dual Frequency Processing for high sensitivity near tube supports.
  • Power 240 volt and 20 Hz.

Adept - Pro Software

  • Integrates examination planning, data acquisition, analysis and report generation.
  • Minimum Operating system windows 95.
  • Voltage plane display and analysis for maximum flaw information.
  • Specialized Remote Field analysis channe including support plate suppression and uniform wall loss signal filter.

Vertiscan

  • Advance, specialized. Robotic and rapid inspection technique based on Remote Field Electromagnetic principle for Condition Assessment of Boiler Water Wall Tubes.
  • 100% inspection of tubes compared toother conventional inspection technique.
  • 5 Tubes can be scanned simultaneously, with minimum scaffolding required and without coolant.
  • The reports include a color visual map of water walls showing thickness variation, a detailed list of features detected with their elevation and "zoomed views" of local wall loss area. Video recording in parallel to the data acquisition for all the scans.
  • 10% wall loss of the tube thickness can be detected.
  • Equally sensitive to I D and OD defects.
  • Up to 16 RFET dual frequency detector channels (5 Abs and 11 Diff)
  • Two frequencies are used, so differentiating relevant and non-relevant signals is easy.
  • Technique is sensitive to all types of wall thinning, including Hydrogen damage, Under scale pitting, Graphitization, Flame and Soot Blower Erosion, Blister and Local overheating, Creep damage, Dents. Gouges and Internal Pitting.

E PIT

  • Unscanned or hard to reach area by Vertis can, can be inspected by E-Pit {External Pipeline Integrity Tool).
  • Single Tube is scanned at a time. ; Dual frequencies with 12 channels (3Absand 9 Diff).
  • Minimum Cleaning required.
  • 1O %wall loss of the tube can be detected.
  • Inspection speed is 1O feet per minute.
  • Scanners suite to the OD of the tube curvature from 1.5" to3".
  • Equally sensitive to ID and OD defects.

I PIT

  • The I-PIT system represents a new technological breakthrough for rapid inspection of tube and pippins for internal and external flaws.
  • The I-PIT system is especially designed for the pit detection and sizing.
  • Inspect tubes having ID as small as 0.25" (6.35 mm) to tubes of 3" (76.2 mm).
  • 60-75 % Fill Factor probes can be used for inspection. Dual frequency enables to detect defect under Baffle, Tube sheet and can differentiate between relevant and non relevant signal.
  • Equally sensitive to ID and Defects.
  • Special Flexible probes for boiler drum to drum inspection.
  • 200 to 250 tubes can be inspected in a 1O hour shift of 8-5-meter tube length.
  • Inspection speed is 10 feet per minute.
  • Minimum cleaning is required.
  • 10% wall loss of the tube thickness can be detected.

Bracelet Probe

  • A single scanner can fit the range of pipe diameter.
  • In-service pipes can be inspected without the removal of insulation.
  • Pipe diameter ranging from 4" and up can be inspected.
  • At 2" insulation thickness 25% deep local wall loss can be detected.
  • Remote field Electromagnetic Inspection Technique for detection of external corrosion in pipe with coating or insulation.
  • Coating or paint thickness has no effect on RFET signals.
  • Techniques sensitive to local and general wall loss.
  • Test data is presented in both strip chart and real-time color map.
